Trap

Like Five Stand and Skeet, Trap is a shotgun sport in which the shooter fires at clay “birds”, or targets, thrown from a machine on the shooter’s call, but a major difference is that the machine is continually oscillating, meaning targets fly on unpredictable paths.

A standard round of Trap involves firing at five targets from each of five positions… twenty five targets in all. All targets are thrown in the air going away from the shooter. Of the three shotgun venues our Club offers, Trap is considered to be the easiest to learn. The Joe Meis Trap Fields consists of two trap houses, a manual target thrower, an enclosed building that is heated and air conditioned, and a covered shelter with picnic tables. We also have a patterning board to provide shooters with a visual indication of the point-of-impact of their guns.

The Trap equipment is open to all Club members that wish to use them. The only requirement is to be trained in the safe and correct operation of the machines. A Fall Trap League generally starts on the first Saturday after the Labor Day Weekend and continues for eight consecutive weeks.
